| since we came back to the Amazon it has been rush, rush, rush and then I forgot how to access my xanga account so I had to wait till I could get Lee to help me get back online. I'll get you some new photos shortly of my joy and sunshine--Miguel. I am loving have some days that I have time to play grandma!!! We are busy teaching English working toward being more self-supportive. Someone that came here told us that we were so creative that we probably could make a good living here had we had more the mind of being entreprenaurs other then missionaries. So I will have to see if we can prove him right. We constantly have more to do then the money to do it so we are working all the family except Will in hopes to be able to do some more of the stuff that needs done. For now we are doing a lot of classes and hoping that the money comes in behind the classes. We are still waiting on our biggest account after a month and half of classes. Will and Tana get a lot of the seminary teaching jobs now since I am otherwise occupied with teaching English. I hope to get a little time free to go down to the seminaries for a bit but we just watch and see. We figured out after looking for the prettiest place all over the US that the place that is the prettiest for us is our own very funny Amazon backyard--maybe it all depends on where the heart is. I'll try to have Lee help me get some more of the past newsletters put in a file here so you can read them at leisure. Oh and if you want to read the stories you can get one of our books by contacting us at chowningamazon@yahoo.com | | |
| Colorado, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas since May 12th. We're in Dallas now and Will is taking off a few days for a men's retreat. He's not real sure what he's getting into but it should be good for him to get some American guy time. I'm working on getting a book ready for my editor so I have plenty to do. Sarena has a little girl in a house full of brothers that is enjoying having a big sister around. We're enjoying it being wetter and hot!! We got to wade in the Gulf waters in Florida and enjoyed that in spite of the sand in all our clothes. Texas is really green this year due to all the rain. It's really nice. And since we have a swimming pool in the backyard maybe I'll get to swim off some of the excess bunda before I show up on Christian television. We're having a good time but still think the pics of the Amazon show the prettiest place of all!!! | | |
| We're in Newton Falls, Ohio visiting with Will's first grade teacher and her husband of 41 years. It got cold last night (ok, so WHAT did you all do with global warming--I'd like a bit of it right now); they're talking high 40's for this week at nights and this is July!!!! How do you all stand it???? We're headed south this week so maybe we can get far enough south that it gets warm. It is fun to see all the different parts of the country though and get to see some friends we haven't seen for a long time. Still haven't found a place I'd trade for my good old South America--we'll keep looking. | | |
| We're in Illinois now and you know what?????I'm inclined to think the prettiest place in the world is around the equator. But we're having a lot of fun seeing places we've never seen before. We popped over into Wisconsin since we were six miles from the border so we could say we'd been there--it looked about the same as Illinois with just a few more dairy farms. This week we head down into Kentucky, then on over into Ohio. Should be fun. | | |
| It seems a little odd to be writing from the US but here we are until the 24th of October. So we get to see a lot of the USA. I am taking a lot of pictures that I hope to get uploaded but we will see what happens. We started in Denver, Colorado then went to Colorado Springs in time to see the last of the spring flowers and then on to Rocky Ford, Colorado where the peonies were just starting to bloom. It is a whole different world then we're used to. We then went down to Hartman, Colorado to see my two brothers, down to Two Buttes, Colorado and on over to Wichita the following day. We saw where a couple of tornados made quite a path across Kansas. Then we went over to Independence, Kansas, down to Gravette, Arkansas to see my sister, back up across the corner of Oklahoma and on into Springfield, Missouri where we had a couple of chill out days complete with a massage. Then we went over to Pittsburg, Kansas and on up to Harrisonville and Belton Missouri. We get a few days rest here before we head east to Peoria, Illinois. So you have our first leg of the trip. | | |
